Kyle & Trina Vierck
Kyle and Trina began their CrossFit journey together in 2015, walking into their first affiliate (Natural Selection) and onto a path of health and wellness that has now led to the realization of a dream to opening their own affiliate. Both have worked extensively throughout their professional careers to serve the needs of others, Trina as a Registered Nurse (BSN, Nursing, WSU) and Kyle as a college soccer coach and athletic administrator (Masters, Organizational Leadership, Gonzaga). With lives dedicated to helping others and their passion for CrossFit, the likelihood of opening an affiliate of their own seemed only a matter of time. Joining them on the affiliate adventure are their daughters, Avery & Callie.
Sonya found CrossFit in her late 30s after years of distance running and chronic back pain. Without any childhood athletic background, she was initially intimidated by the wide range of movements and the barbell but quickly fell in love with her first CrossFit community and the strength and confidence she gained. She has a varied teaching background which led to her coaching in the gym as well.
She loves helping clients, both brand new and experienced, to hone their skills and find success. Her primary career as a midwife can be physically demanding and CrossFit has provided her with the stamina and strength needed for both work and the various outdoor pursuits she loves including hiking/backpacking, Nordic skiing, and keeping up with her teenagers.
Sonya has earned her CrossFit L2 and L1 certifications as well as additional training in Olympic lifts. Sonya also helps program and run LEAF’s GreenLight Program. CrossFit Level 2
Coaching has always been a natural expression for Kyle from a very young age, dating back to coaching as 6 years old for the even younger children in the daycare his mother ran from their home. “Working with people to support and encourage, while safely challenging them, and then reaching their potential and beyond has been a lifelong calling for me,” said Kyle.
Kyle has broad coaching and athletic experience, and has had the good fortune of working with people of every age and ability from beginners to dozens of professional athletes in multiple sports. His experience as a Division I men’s soccer athlete, United States Marine, and 20+ years in coaching college athletes has allowed him to connect well to people of every walk of life.
He spent two years working with student-athletes at the University of Notre Dame on their career development off the field, an experience that afforded him insight into the rigors of performance at the highest levels of sport while balancing life off the field.
From the young child just entering the gym to the elite performer on the world’s stage, Kyle is a seasoned coach and mentor that can help you find the leading edge of your potential and vision of new goals ahead.
